What is the difference between a consultation and a session?

A consultation is the initial conversation between an eligible participant and an EAP counselor. The participant discusses their concerns, issues, or challenges, while the counselor provides assessment, support, and guidance. The goal is to identify the problem, explore available resources, and develop a plan of action.

A session is a structured meeting where the eligible participant and EAP counselor dive deeper into the identified issue(s) and develop coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and personal growth opportunities. Up to six sessions with an EAP counselor per issue is available.

Up to six sessions for short-term problem resolution with an EAP counselor per issue are available.
